Travels With My Daftie

Motherhood came as a surprise and a thunderbolt. Priorities changed, life shifted, everything is suddenly focused on my Small Human and my Big Human.

For me, I want to track and record all the odd, strange, hilarious, hard, sleepless, awesome things that I expect to experience, as well as what has happened so far. This seemed ideal.

I was further inspired when a good friend of mine, another young first time Mammy, was diagnosed with breast cancer. I decided to do a cancer research sponsorship event where I’ll be walking 10,000 steps a day for the month of March 2017. Figured this would help me be accountable and keep on track.

That month proved so successful that we did it twice more in March 2018 and March 2019. March 2020 was a bit of a write-off, thanks to the global pandemic and then the rest of the year fell by the wayside, so I didn’t do any fundraising like I would have hoped.

January 2021 is a new start and a new opportunity to raise money for Refuge.

April 2025 is here and we’re on the road. This time for Simba. A Scottish chartiy who help provide comfort while honour infant loss.
I’ll talk more about why this charity is so important to me but, for now, let’s enjoy walking and talking together. Traveling with My Daftie.
